The Marlins pulled the upset 4-3 last night to even this series at one game apiece, but don’t kid yourself. The Giants are the much better team and should hold every edge in this game. The Marlins have been stripped down to an AAA team, after the ownership traded everything they possibly could at the trade deadline. This game is loadd with mismatches, but the biggest one might be at starting pitcher. Darren McCaughan joined the Marlins on Tuesday and gave up just 1 run over 5 innings innings in two relief appearances. McCaughan posted a 5.75 ERA over 36 innings for AAA Jacksonville this season. Logan Webb surprisingly gave up a pair of two-run HRs. It was the first time in seven starts that Webb has even given up 1, and the first time all season that he's allowed more than 1. Webb is having a solid season ansd should b much better tan Darren McCaughan.

The Mariners blew a 4-1, 5th inning lead and lost 6-5 to the Angels to even this series at one game apiece. The Mariners still struggle to score runs too often and when they lose that’s usually the reason why. The Mariners have most of the edge here. Bryce Miller has been outstanding of late, giving up just 3 runs (all on solo homers) in his past four starts (24 IP). Miller has broken through in his second MLB season, ranking 11th among qualified starters with a 3.23 ERA and 4th with a 0.98 WHIP while registering a stellar 143/33 K/BB ratio over 150.2 innings. Caden Dana will make his MLB debut after logging a 2.59 ERA over 135.2 innings with AA Rocket City this season. The 20-year-old is one of the Angles' top prospects, but he hasn't pitched above the Double-A level since joining the organization in 2022.
I have no idea what to expect from McCaughan today. Making a jump from AA to the bigs can be treacherous. By contrast Miller has been on a great roll lately all the Mariners have to do is give him some run support,
