Guys can’t hit because they never learned how to hit. Swinging as hard as one can on every pitch; not adjusting, always looking to pull is a terrible approach. At least Toronto has a number of guys who can hit a pitch to the opposite field. Vlad Jr isn’t just a slugger; he’s an all around hitter.
I agree ! I was always taught to hit the ball where it is pitched. If it's on the outside of the plate go with it to right field. Don't try to pull curve balls - go with them to right field.
Inside pitches - get around on it and rip it down the left field line. Center of the plate - punch it up the middle. And how about learning how to bunt ! These are all things you work on in batting practice.
Today's players just use batting practice as a HR derby. Pete Rose, Rod Carew, the Alou brothers, Manny Mota, etc. would never buy into this "launch angle" stuff.
