Here's my morning/afternoon major-league lineup and some thoughts for a potential hump day heater:
TAMPA BAY ML, RL, OVER 6.5
Tampa Bay is 14-2 ATS (runline) in its last 16 games when its opponent scored 1 run (or less) in its last game (Rays won yesterday, 8-1, against the Tigers).
MILWAUKEE ML, RL, OVER 6.5
Since the start of last season, Craig Counsell (Brewers) is 0-6 ATS (RL) versus Brian Snitker (Braves) @ American Family Field (in Milwaukee).
That said, I believe there's value in bucking that trend today.
Don't be surprised if the Hofbräus bounce back in this early afternoon (Central time) slot and actually put some runs on the board to (finally) secure Counsell's club a runline victory over Snitker's squad -- and win the rubber-match of their three-game set.
SAN FRANCISCO ML, RL, OVER 10.5
The Giants are 12-1 ATS (RL) in their last 13 games when the runs total is more than 9.5 and 8-3 (runline) after an ATS win in the Central/Mountain time zones. Giants starter Logan Webb also has a 2-1 record with 20 strikeouts in 4 appearances versus the Rockies on the road in his career (despite a gaudy ERA of 6.00 in those starts).
MINNESOTA ML, RL, UNDER 7.5
Oakland's Daulton Jefferies is 0-3 with an ERA of 3.80 and 16 strikeouts in 5 appearances at home since 2021. With former Athletic Sonny Gray making his second visit to Oakland since leaving the club and the Twins offense buoyed by the return of Carlos Correa from injury (finger), don't be surprised if the Twins take game three of this set and claim their first series victory in the East Bay since 2011.
ARIZONA ML, RL, UNDER 8.5
MLB DOG OF THE DAY: The Snakes, at Chavez Ravine, for the win. The Diamondbacks turn to Zach Davies to close out their series with the Dodgers in LA. And what better weapon for Arizona to employ than the 29-year old right-hander who has a 3-1 record with an ERA of 1.06 and 28 strikeouts in 5 career appearances at Dodger Stadium. In a low-scoring skirmish, look for the Snakes to sneak up on the home team who is already looking forward to its off-day tomorrow while the road team will be looking to get out of "Dodge" with a win and cruise into Chicago with some good vibrations courtesy of a win over the league's best lineup.
