Sour: I don't think the Dodgers want to lock a player in for years for many millions of dollars. They have been trying to stay under the luxury tax and have shed millions from their payroll in the last few years while building from within. They will stay competitive with their great group of young players coming up. They also have a surplus of talent - they will better their roster where needed with trades rather than huge free agent signings. They want to be competitive each year, not throw the whole budget at one guy (like the Angels did with Albert Pujols - crippling them for years). I would be very surprised if they sign a player to a huge multi year contract. It's cheaper to build from within, make trades, and sign "rent a player" deals.

PD, I live in LA like you, and the fans are turning. The Dodgers did absolutely nothing at the deadline this year and really need to make a splash this offseason. Their fans are very pissed and rightfully so. They need to figure out how to bring in Cole and finally get over the hump. Nobody cares that they win the NL West every year. At this point, anything short of winning the WS is considered a bust.
