So the Phillies beat the Cards as favorites on a walk off. So naturally Velasquez, and the Phillies would be favored in Game 2. Facing the Colorado Rockies last Thursday, he carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning. He gave up just one hit and two runs before exiting after 6 2/3 innings and 105 pitches.
Also Velasquez (5-7, 4.74) held the Cardinals scoreless for 6 1/3 innings and struck out five in a 6-2 Phillies win.
However Weaver hasn't pitched that bad
The 24-year-old Weaver (4-6, 4.52 ERA) allowed just one run and four hits and notched six strikeouts in seven innings against the Phillies on May 17. Weaver has gone seven innings in just one of his 13 other starts this season.
I use the 3 Start rule. Weaver has given me 4 straight outings without a win. Weaver pitches a Gem, and the Cards win. Wouldn't surprise me if the Cards become the favorite tomorrow.
Good Luck!
