A combination of multiple factors have this spot to play the under seem like the smart side to be on. The Rangers have the 3rd worst wOBA & 7th worst wRC+ against righties this season and Zack Wheeler is in the middle of a very dominant stretch where he’s 3-0 in his L3 starts with a ERA under 2 & WHIP under 1. He’s also faced the Rangers on 5/4 and he went 7.2 IP struck out 7 and didn’t give up any runs. He also has a FIP at 2.32 which is lower than his ERA of 2.69 so as good as he’s been these numbers he could be even better. Jon Gray has had a solid season for the Rangers and has been even better over his L3 starts with a ERA right at 3 while facing the White Sox and Guardians for 2 of those starts. He has a FIP of 3.36 which is lower than his 4.27 season ERA so I expect some positive regression for Gray.
