I'm playing on DETROIT. The Tigers could really use a victory. This should ge a great spot to get one. Rodriguez has faced some tough teams of late. All season, for that matter. His first three starts came against the White Sox, Red Sox and Yankees. His last three have all been on the road, as he's faced the Twins, Astros and Dodgers. Yet, despite the tough venues, Rodriguez has averaged six innings his past three starts, while compiling a stingy 0.981 WHIP. On the season, he's got a 1.156 WHIP. Now, he returns home and steps down in class to face the Orioles. Note that the O's are 42-85 the past 2+ seasons on the road. Lyles is 1-2 with a 6.75 ERA and 1.636 WHIP on the road. While Lyles has allowed seven hits in three straight starts, Rodriguez limited the Astros to a single hit last game, while striking out eight over 6 2/3 innings. He's pitching better than his record indicates and this evening, he gets rewarded for it.
