Okay, eight straight winners in the bases and let's get another one safely in the books here guys. What we have seen is certain teams of late falling into the kind of slumps usually saved for after the all star break. Unfortunately for Texas fans the Rangers are indeed one of those clubs. They are not just in last place in the AL West they are mired in last place 14.5 games out. Going to be a long, hot summer for the Rangers. Actually Kyle Gibson has been strong for the large part this year. I have followed Gibson since his days pitching here for the Missouri Tigers. He is a better pitcher now than he has been in his entire career. Shame he is laboring for the lowly Rangers. I would love to see Gibson doing his work for a legit contender to see what kind of season he could put together. But the stubborn fact, due to a weak offensive attack the Rangers are just not going to offer up much in the way of run support on any kind of consistent basis. The fact is the Rangers have dropped their last four games when Gibson has gotten the start on the road going up against winning teams. And now he gets a Houston team that is playing solid ball. The Astros sit in second place in the west hot on the heels of the A's. Veteran Lance McCuller takes the ball and will be making his first start in a few weeks. As a result it is highly likely he will be on a pitch count. Be that as it may the Astros should be able to clear the run line for us here as I just don't have much faith in this Rangers offense. Obviously the run line with the home team can be a slippery slope at times but you just have to pick your spots. I say the run line at this number is actually a good value for us. I am going triple here with Houston at home to take care of business and keep the pressure on Oakland.
Now, as always. And no, it never changes. Baseball is the ultimate marathon. This is one game in mid june. Please play this like any triple. 8 wins in a row in nice but each game is it's own animal.
