Here we have two clubs mired in the bottom of their respective divisions. There is one important difference between the two however. The Nationals are under achieving. While on the flip side we have the Pirates who, well, stink. The Buc's are drowning in losses in last place 14.5 games behind the Brewers and Cubs and with literally zero hope of making any kind of run. In other words, a long hot losing summer of frustration is once again on the horizon for the Pirates and their fans. However with Washington we have seen this team stall out of the gate before. This is nothing really new. Make no mistake about it, although the Nat's are in the bottom of the division the fact they are only 7.5 games out to the Mets is not as daunting as some might suspect. It is hard to see the Mets taking off a leaving the crowd and the Nationals are perfectly capable of stringing together a run to get right back into the mix. The Pirates have won a pathetic four games this season against lefty starters. And it is no secret they struggle mightily at the dish when going up against southpaws. Enter Jon Lester. The Pirates have been doing what they do best, losing on a consistent basis. I will gladly take Lester and the Nat's here and lay what I consider a reasonable price tag. Triple star on the Nationals.
We are having a winning season in the bases. And yes, like any service I have had swings. Everybody does. Of course what is most important is if you are on the plus side of the ledger of otherwise. We are. After a cold snap we have won six straight baseball releases. Hopefully starting a serious run of our own. But as always, I stress money management and self discipline. Not to preach.
