As always in the marquee, prime time games everyone and their crazy, well, whatever have an opinion. A lot of eyebrows were raised last saturday when Ole Miss hung 48 points on this Tide defense. It was kind of shocking. Kind of like watching someone slam dunk over Michael Jordan back in the day. Certain things we just take for granted. I am not going to panic. Lane Kiffin had a nice scheme and his kids executed all game long. The up tempo pace seemed to throw the Tide off balance. Listen, the problem is certainly not that Bama does not have the players. They had a lousy game and frankly it will help us here. I can only imagine what that defense heard time and again from their coaches all week long after that mess. It could not have been pretty. I expect a much more focused and angry Tide defense here and while I respect the Bulldogs and yes, they are legit I don't think they are in the right spot at the right time. Many feel the polar opposite. Many feel this is the perfect time for Kirby Smart to finally knock off the Tide and his ex coach. Which brings us to the biggest topic at hand. Head coach Nick Saban. Here is the deal, really good football teams, I mean the really good teams with a history of excellence and performance tend to shine in moments of adversity. Well coached, disciplined teams with a strong support staff deal with issues like this and frankly it can increase a teams motivation and focus. Totally the opposite of being a distraction. I will be surprised and borderline stunned if we do not see Alabama come out ready to open up a can on someone here saturday night. Am I declaring blowout? NO, I am not. Georgia is too good for that to happen this year. But I expect that Bulldog defense to struggle containing this offense. What a lot of people do not realize is just how well coached up the Bama wideouts are a running picks and rubs. With the speed they have with the likes of Smith. Waddle and Metchie I think they can wreak some havoc on that Georgia back end. They might get caught a time or two but they will not more often than not and their yards after catch on those are lethal to opponents. When they need to keep them honest and pound the ball they can pop out Najee Harris, just another in the long line of stud Bama running backs. The Bulldogs have a stellar defense that can suffocate most opponents. I say not the Tide. I am going triple here on Alabama to rise to the occasion in prime time, again.
Many sincere thanks as always and best of luck to each of us. Enjoy the game guys.
