I'm playing on OAKLAND. While the Mariners earned a win last night, the A's had the day off. They'd lost the previous day, which is noteworthy given the A's 80-50 record off a loss the past couple of seasons. They're facing a largely inexperienced Seattle team in this one and will have plenty of advantages. Manaea pitched well in his first start, arguably better than his final line indicated. Manager Bob Melvin had this to say: "He was great. He had 39 pitches going into the fifth and it happened pretty quick — he got a few balls in the middle of the plate to three hitters, which he hadn’t been doing. I was really encouraged by the way he threw ..." Manaea's last couple of starts against Seattle have resulted in 'quality' wins. While it was obviously only one start, Walker has an awful 13.51 ERA and 2.402 WHIP. Oakland rolls.
