I'm playing on DETROIT. Battle of southpaws here and that works in the Tigers' favor. Detroit averages 5.2 runs per game vs. left-handed starters, hitting .261. Seattle, on the other hand, averages 4.2 runs per game vs. southpaws, hitting .235. In the Mariners' case, those numbers are worse than their numbers vs. right-handers. In the Tigers' case, however, those numbers are much better than their numbers vs. right-handers. Boyd, who was born in the Seattle area, dominated the Mariners, at SafeCo, on 7.28. Now he faces them at home, where he's got better numbers (3.88 ERA, 1.12 WHIP) than he does on the road. Boyd should get plenty of support. Over his past 13 starts, Kikuchi is 1-7 with a 7.18 ERA. For the season, he's got a 5.55 ERA away from Seattle, opposing hitters batting .297. Tigers roll.
