UC Irvine will look to close out the regular season with a bag. They took it to Cal Poly in the last game as they scored a total of 110 points. They probably can't do that again, but they can blast CSUN here. Big reason I think this game is lopsided is the last games stats. CSUN did well at home shooting the ball. UC Irvine shot like crap in that game. Big issue in that game for CSUn and why they lost was because they got crushed on the boards.
UC Irvine is #9 in the nation in rebounding. CSUN ranks #291...So I fully expect CSUn to shoot a much lower FG% and to get dominated on the glass again. I can see UC Irvine with about 15-20 extra possessions in this game...That alone will get us the cover and a good amount of margin. Now take these teams for who they are. Well Irvine is the best team in thsi conference and CSUN is well below average. Plus we get this final game at home. So we get home court and motivation to close out the season with a bang. I also think this could be an intimidation type of game. Conference tournament is coming up and these teams might meet again. Nothing like pounding a team and then playing them again a few games later. That's a Tyson type tactic. He wanted to beat you so bad, that if you even tried to step back in the ring, he mentally beat you the first time. He really never had any takers. So I think Irvine has that same type of thinking here.
Irvine also has a very good defense as they rank #16 in the nation and #5 in FG%....Problem for CSUN is they went all out in their final home game..They came close to a win, but lost at home..That kinda sucks for them especially after their best effort was given..I feel a physical and emotional letdown is in store for them tonight.
Overall I see a dominating performance tonight the raw numbers show us that this game could be very lopsided.
