We passed in last night’s Game One of the 2018 ‘Fall Classic’. But we can’t pass up on the opportunity to Go HIGH in tonight’s Game Two. Not when we found out who the Man in Blue for tonight's game will be. We certainly acknowledge that some of the VALUE has been sucked out of this play… after last night’s game had an OU line of 7 runs… and the line for tonight’s Game Two has been jacked up to 8.5 runs. With that said…
Working behind the dish for today’s game will be KERWIN DANLEY. Sharp OU bettors already know about his numbers thus far in the 2018 season. he was ranked as 5th BEST ‘Over’ Umpire for the year, amongst guys who worked 15 games or more. His year-to-date record is 19-10-1 O/U (65% Overs), with an average of 10.7 combined runs per game. This numbers are pretty solid. But they are even BETTER when we research his ‘splits’ in regards to NL ballparks vs AL ballparks. Danley’s record in NL games was a middle-of-the-road 7-7-1 O/U… with a low average of only 7.4 combined runs per game. But in American League parks, Danley went 9-3 O/U (75% Overs)… with a gaudy average of 13.8 combined runs per game. He worked three RED SOX games this year, and ALL three of those games went OVER the Total (3-0 O/U). He also worked 2 DODGER games this year, and went a perfect 2-0 O/U in those games as well. We also can’t ignore that Danley went 3-0 O/U in his INTERLEAGUE games this season… and 10-4 O/U in the last 2+ seasons.
We CANNOT pas up on the following OVER-whelming TEAM trends:
The RED SOX are on a current 16-4-1 O/U run in their last 21 games overall… 9-1-2 O/U in their last 12 HOME games… 12-3 O/U in their last 15 Interleague games versus left-handed pitchers (including a perfect 7-0 O/U at HOME)…
The DODGERS are on a 6-2-1 O/U run in their last nine ROAD games… 5-1 O/U away vs left-handed pitchers… and 4-0-1 O/U off a LOSS in their last game.
After the aces went head-to-head in last night’s Game One, the #2 guys take the hill in tonight’s game. And neither guy is in the good form that they were in during regular season play. Hyun-Jin Ryu will be making his first EVER start atFenway Park. he had a great 2018 season, with a 12-6 team record in his 18 starts… and sharp ERA of only 2.33. But his numbers on the road (4.63 ERA) were more than FOUR times worse as his numbers at home (1.02 ERA). He looked very shaky in the NLCS vs the Brewers, with an ERA of 8.59 in two starts.
His counterpart will be lefty David Price. And yes, he deserves tremendous credit for SHUTTING down the Astros IN Houston to clinch the ALCS for the Red Sox. But that was on the road. He struggled in his HOME start vs the ‘Stros (losing 7-5)… and also struggle in his HOME Playoff start vs the Yankees (3 earned runs allowed in 1.2 innings). So after FINALLY getting the monkey off his back, and winning his first ever Playoff start… we see a let-down in Bean Town tonight. After all, he is STILL 3-9 un his career in the post-season, with an ERA of 5.04 in 20 appearances.
