It was a rotten break, putting it mildly for Wildcats QB Clayton Thorson with how his season concluded last year. Torn ACL in the Music City Bowl against the Kentucky Wildcats. On a trick play no less. Apparently his rehab has been going well to date and he is putting some weight back on. Even so, I am not convinced he will be under center when this season kicks off. And if he cannot go the Cats are thin at QB. Not talent wise but certainly from an experience aspect. T.J Green is the only other QB with any actual game experience. The son of former NFL standout Trent Green he has completed a total of one pass in game action. Just to be clear, I like Purdue in this game regardless of who is under center for Pat Fitzgerald. As for Purdue, Jeff Brohm was the perfect hire for the program. It has been a long time since Purdue entered a season with such realistic expectations. Emphasis on realistic. Been a good while since they have opened at home at night in front of a nationally televised audience. Biggest stage for the program in some time. I suspect Brohm will have his club ready to roll. Well worth mentioning Northwestern also has the big shoes to fill with the departure of star running back Justin Jackson. I do anticipate Fitzgeralds club to gain strength as the season moves along, that is what they typically do anyway. But with some legit question marks at key positions and the fact this game will be played in such a hostile setting I think Purdue laying the reasonable number is the right side. If these teams played a little later in the season and Thorson has proven he was clearly back 100% the pick might be different. But for this season so early. I am going to lay the points with Purdue at home.
Last year we won 29 units with the Triples & Rabid Dogs. Nothing great but a winning mark with the featured releases. I've had better seasons. At Pregame we do not bull shit people. My single star releases last season were not good. Just being candid. But the strong releases were solid. Point is I always stress self discipline & money management. Those two key things 95% of sports bettors do not have. It's a long season guys. Play it like any other triple. As always just trying to help. Many sincere thanks as always and best of luck to each of us. Enjoy the game and season. ADDED NOTE: I see since publishing this the line has moved to 3.5 at most shops. Still good to go guys.
Tuesday Note: Evidently Thorson will be good to go. As I type this the number is at Purdue -1 at most shops. Definitely still good to go. Good luck.
