I'm glad I waited on this one for an extra day..I was hoping this line would go to 46.5 or 47...So we got plenty of 47's on the board and I like this one under tonight...After reviewing each team I suspect the points will be hard to come by...Gophers have a good coach in PJ Fleck, but he lost a ton of talent of this roster from last year. Most of those players are skill position guys for the most part. Gophers lost some key WR's and the QB from last year..They do bring back a decent RB and I think they will lean on him for the most part in this game..Fleck just named a freshman by the name of Anexxstad...He hasn't played before and throwing him into the ring of fire at home for his first game isn't likely...I believe Fleck and Gophers will take a slower approach in this game..They are 21pt favorites and New Mexico St doesn't pose a real threat to Minnesota...Fleck has been known to bring his players along much more slowly than most would think. He likes to develop skill position guys...On the other Side New Mexico St is off a bad game..They got bopped by Wyoming in a game in which New Mexico St couldn't do anything on offense...The Aggies rushed for -9 yards..I mean that's hard to do against any team..So I wonder two things...They have no choice but to run the ball and they might've spent a decent amount of time on that in practice this week. My only concern is if they fail to run the ball early that they abandon the run and go with nothing but passing...I think that's a recipe for disaster though for the Aggies...One thing New Mexico St will try to do is shorten this game...It can avoid that blowout scenario and it also chews up the clock for us...Gophers bring back 7 guys on defense and the strength is the secondary. So I'm not sure if passing is going to be the best idea early for New Mexico. Now although New Mexico St didn't play that well last week, the defense did a decent job...They bring back 9 starters and I'm sure they will be depending on the defense to keep them in the game. The offense did nothing last week and that defense got overworked. The Aggies only had the ball for 17 minutes last game and they allowed Wyoming to control the ball for 40 minutes...I think New mexico slows it down to a snails pace here just trying to not lose the ball control area by a landslide last game...Fleck also is guy with some class, so if the Gophers do get up by a decent amount, I lean to him not running up the score. He will run his offense, but he isn't that cut throat kind of coach..Under is the best wager here I believe. I think the Gophers at times will struggle to move the ball as well..I see nothing that says over is a solid wager..This line yesterday went to 46.5 and it got crushed back to 45..That was a setup move and the sharps gobbled up that number. I won't be surprised if this takes a nose dive again if it somehow can tick up to 47.5...I wouldn't wait on the 47 though, cuz that move could come and you'll miss a good number...Best Of Luck !!
