Washington Nationals w/ Scherzer @ Philadelphia Phillies w/ Nola
1* Play on: UNDER the TOTAL
——————
It's a 3-game Totals Triple Play of UNDERS this evening on the Diamonds. We certainly have the justification for a low-scoring Tuesday, given some of the great UNDER Umpires that will be working tonight… not to mention some very GOOD h-o-t starting pitchers.
For us, it begins in Philadelphia… as the Phillies host the Nationals in Game Two of their series. Last night’s Game One went UNDER. And we see the same outcome tonight as both teams are throwing by far their BEST starting pitchers on the season. When we get two guys with YTD ERA’s that are BELOW 2.15… the we are always gonna think ‘Under FIRST’. That’ll be the case as Washington is rolling out their Cy Young favorite out to the hill. Matt Scherzer come sign with an ERA of only 2.13 on the season. It’s hard to actually IMPROVE on those numbers as of late, but here we are. Scherzer has been a better NIGHT pitcher (2.05 ERA) than in his daytime starts. He’s actually been better on the ROAD (1.82 ERA vs 2.40 at home). AND… his ERA in his last three starts has been only 0.90. He just faced the Phillies last week. Didn’t win, but he still was LIGHTS OUT (7 IP / 2 ER allowed in a 2-0 loss). His counterpart will be Aaron Nola, who is having a CAREER year with the Phillies. His ERA on the season is the exact SAME as Scherzers (2.13). And like his counterpart, we’ll be ON him in the best situations. Nola has been better at NIGHT (1.73 ERA)than his daytime action (2.53). He’s been more effective at HOME (2.00 ERA). And he’s actually even even SHARPER as of late (0.43 ERA in last three starts). He was the winning pitcher in that 2-0 Philly won last week that we mentioned above. Sealing the deal will be a decent UNDER Umpire tonight. That would be SAM HOLBROOK. He’s gone 8-14-3 O/U on the season (64% Unders). Even more pertinent is his record in National League games this season. That would be 1-4 O/U with a very low average of only 6.0 combined runs per game…
