Analysis
Let's stop and think about a few things about this game...First off the Hawaii Rainbows have had a trying week with that big Hurricane barring down on them. How much do you think they practiced the last few days with a Cat 4 or 5 hurricane causing a state of emergency. The Islands got hit and they got hit hard. I'm certain the players minds for the Rainbows won't be 100% into this game. With the lack of practice, I'm certain the offense is going to struggle the most for Hawaii. Both teams bring back just 9 starters this season. 4 on offense for each and 5 on defense for each. Neither team brings back a starting QB and the talent both teams lost at WR spot is pretty big. This total has moved from 55 to now 58...I think the 55 is incorrect and the 58 offers us some great value. Another wrinkle is the head coaching situation for Colorado St. Mike Bobo was sent to the hospital on Aug 11th..He was just realed a few days back and returned to practice on Wednesday. It's now Friday and most reports that I've heard was Bobo would miss the game. Well he is now coaching. I'm sure the Rams will be extra motivated to have the coach back, but how does that help the Rams offense. Well it doesn't. Bobo is the OC and he was reviewing practice from teh hospital coming up with a game plan. Now the Rams have to go from the guys who they were getting the calls from to the head coach and all this over the last two weeks came to a halt in just the last two days. My gut feeling is this. If I was the head coach of wither team is to ease my team into the game on offense. If my practices were short and my teams head might not be screwed on straight like Hawaii, you might want to ease these guys in with a few possessions of runnig the ball and getting the QB in some type of short passing game rhythm. If I'm Bobo and the Rams the same applies. I have two new Qb's on each side and this is a big game for both. I doubt you send out two teams who have had some big moments over the last few days with a new QB slinging it around the yard early and often. The Rams had to replace 4 of the 5 receiving options from last year. Both teams last year struggled in rushing defense. Wouldn't it make sense to try to exploit a teams weakness from the year prior?...I think so...The Rams defense is led by two senior LB's and both will be looking to stop the run. The D-Line took a big hit with 3 or 4 guys from last year now graduated or off the team. The strength of this Hawaii defense is at LB and CB...So running and passing on them might be easy for a QB with experience, but you know with a new QB he will be a bit worried about any defense. I think that gives the best players on Hawaii motivation that they can hang in this game. The best players on defense for both sides is the Hawaii LB's and CB's....So with all that said, I don't see this going over..I don't think the line move is correct and the line move makes sense if you look at both teams last year. These teams are not the same on offense and neither team had to deal with what it has in just the last 10 days. Let's not forget what the Rams do schedule wise. They did this last year and we had the Rams because of this. They schedule Hawaii games as early as possible. The time zone change the earlie you get is tough for Hawaii. Well a 4:30pm PST start is still a few hours from the norm for Colo St. It's a massive difference time wise for Hawaii...How will the players adjust to that as well...I see this one going under by a good amount. I don't have a score projection, but my guess is the opening number is off by 4 or 5 points...My gut feeling is that 27-16 range maybe. Under it is.
