Let's work backwards, here. Last nights' game went 11 innings, so although there is the possibility of starters resting, there is unquestionably two tired bullpens. Neither had been performing well to begin with, but last night both teams used just about everyone and all of them threw quite a few pitches, in the heat no less. It's not any cooler in Atlanta tonight, and what really struck me is that between the two teams and 12 relief pitchers after the fifth inning and only struck out ONE batter. Both teams used their best LHP out of the pen for the second straight night, so the point here is that although I'd love this to be 4-4 in the first inning, unless both Harvey and Sanchez are masterful, we'll eventually get runs. The Reds are mashing the ball, scoring more runs than any team in baseball over the last week (hence I actually like the Reds RL a fair bit here and may add it) and Atlanta is averaging over 6 runs per game in the last week. Harvey has had two decent starts back-to-back, and by decent I mean he hasn't given up a HR. However, that will change here, because he's a flyball pitcher who has still given up 13 in 68 innings. Sanchez, in al honesty, can go either way, but the Mets already hammered him in his return from the DL and his last start against Toronto was a rough one - and with both teams in high gear at the plate, the offenses are just better than the pitchers. Tom Woodring behind the plate is quite favorable for runs, so I do see this a 4-4 game at some point which is always what I look for with a total of 9.
