I'm playing on ATLANTA (2* SPECIAL). These teams are at opposite ends of the food chain these days. The O's (21-52) are at the bottom of the AL East, already playing out the string. Atlanta, on the other hand, sits on top of the NL East. Every game is important. The Braves had yesterday off, after losing Wednesday's finale at Toronto. While I successfully played against them in that one, with this line having come down a bit from its opener, I'm coming right back with them here. One of the reasons for the Braves' success has been an ability to bounce back from losses. Wednesday's setback was their 30th loss of the season. They went 22-7 (+17.5!) following the previous 29 defeats. While the Braves had yesterday off, the O's are off a tough loss against Scherzer and the Nats. They were in that game the entire way, making the loss sting that much worse. As for the matchup, Cobb is 2-9 with a terrible 7.14 (7.91 on road) ERA. On the other hand, Newcomb is 8-2 with a 2.70 ERA. Newcomb tossed six shutout innings last time out, Cobb has allowed 14 earned runs in his last 10 2/3 innings. More? The Braves are a much better hitting team and also have the superior bullpen. All things considered, this line could easily be much higher. Braves roll.
