ANDY KENNEDY will not be back as Coach for OLE MISS. After this season, his 12th and final one for the Rebels KENNEDY will leave Oxford as the winningest OLE MISS MEN'S basketball coach.
KENNEDY RESIGNED yesterday and will step down at season's end. It was a mutual decision. The kids like Andy and he will finish the season. Kennedy has had 11 straight winning seasons for the Ole Miss Rebels.
The Rebs lost a tough 97-93 game at Arkansas but you can expect the team to push it on their HOME COURT plus the motivation of losing their Coach at the end of the season. KENNEDY has 11 straight winning seasons but is 3 games under .500 so you can expect the Rebels to go for it & try & keep their Coach's streak intact.
The twosome of Deandre Burnett & Terence Davis is potent for Ole Miss combining for ( 28 ppg ) but they best focus because - The whole Rebels team ought to clamp down and show some heart tonight.
For the Hogs, their combo is Barford & Macon and the two average 36 ppg.
I'll play the human emotion of the players along with the home court edge. It's tough to take a team that has dropped 5 straight and 7 of 8 this season but human emotion comes in to play sometimes and I think it will here. Rebels win the game between 5- 15 points.
UPDATE- 9:19 AM TUESDAY- LINE has gone to ARKANSAS minus 1.5
Not a surprise with Arkansas battling to get in the Big Dance but really need a strong close in SEC as they sit ( 6-6 ) right now.....a lot on kids for Ole Miss being focused for 40 minutes as they may feel some responsibility for Coach Kennedy losing his job
1:05 PM- line continues to go towards Arkansas now up to MINUS 2 - 2.5 around town......If Ole Miss loses this game they will be against the rest of their last 5 games for me.....very few teams go into Fayetteville and hang with the Hogs for 40 minutes like Ole Miss did.....that coupled with the emotion of Kennedy resigning yesterday should be extra incentive and motivation to just Win the game!
