Never easy taking a shot on a winless Conference team which is the case with the Johnnie's who are now at ( 0-8 ) in the Big East. However six of those eight games were winnable if this team could just stop could just learn how to close out games. If they would've fouled at the end of the first OT on Saturday they would've beaten Georgetown but instead gave up the tying triple with a couple seconds left and ended up losing in Double OT.
St. John's played a solid game in Omaha in the first meeting against Creighton but lost 77-71 down the stretch. Marcus Foster led the way for the Blue Jays with 25 points and Center Martin Krampelj had 14 points and 11 rebounds. Now Krampelj is out for the year with a leg injury.
I look for the Red Storm to be up for this game and Bashir Ahmed who had 21 points in the first contest to lead the way. Ponds and Owens both combined for 30 more points for St. John's in the first game back on January 3rd.
Just a gut feeling that St. John's gets the job done and gives HC Chris Mullins his first Big East win of the season.
