I'm playing on HOUSTON. I successfully backed the Astros yesterday, as they closed out their road trip with a big win at Arizona. Now, with facing those same Dbax in their homepark and with some positive momentum behind them, I expect the Astros to follow it up with another victory.
The Dbax are 27-30 on the road, the Astros are 33-25 at home. The Astros pounded a southpaw (Banda) yesterday. However, they also average a whopping 5.7 runs per game and hit .287 against right-handers. The Dbax hit well at Arizona. On the road, however, they average 4.2 runs per game and hit a paltry .235.
Both starters have relatively similar overall numbers. Walker is 6-6 with a 3.76 ERA and 1.273 WHIP. Morton is 9-5 with a 3.83 ERA and 1.247 WHIP. However, Morton was better last time out. Walker allowed four earned runs in five innings, serving up a pair of home runs, walking three while striking out just two. Morton had six K's against two walks, kept the ball in the park and allowed three earned runs in 5 2/3 innings.
Walker is 0-2 his last two starts against Houston, allowing eight runs (6 earned) in just six combined innings. In that six inning span, he gave up five home runs! On the other hand, Morton is 2-0 and has limited Arizona to a mere three runs (0 HR's) in 19 combined innings, his last three starts against the Dbax. I'm going back to the well with Houston. *GOW
