1* FREE PLAY under Nationals/Diamondbacks. Runs would appear to be at a premium with these two “studs” squaring off on the mound this evening. The Nationals turn to Stephen Strasburg (10-3, 3.31 ERA) who went seven innings and gave up one run while striking out 11 in a dominating victory over Cincinnati on Monday. The hard-throwing right-hander would go on to record 20 swinging strikes, while also throwing first-pitch strikes to 17 of the 25 batters he faced (note that Strasburg has been at his best on the road this year as well by going 7-1 with a 2.45 ERA.) Arizona counters with Robbie Ray (9-4, 2.97) who gave up two runs over six innings in a victory over the Reds on Tuesday. Previous to that Ray also threw a gem, posting 13 K’s against the Dodgers (to go along with his sharp 2.97 ERA, Ray also has a whopping 145 K’s over 112 innings of work.) As stated off the top, recent form displayed by these starting pitchers suggests that runs will be hard to come by in this one. Consider the under.
