Victor King, founder of KING CREOLE SPORTS, has been picking winners in professional and collegiate sports for more than twenty years. He started as a professional handicapper in 1990, and joined Marc Lawrence’s PLAYBOOK staff in 2000.
With four full-timers on staff in four different geographical regions of the country, we’re privy to a lot of local and “inside” information. We are also firm believers in technical handicapping and the usage of the Playbook DATABASES in the various different sports has contributed greatly to our overall success. Victor is the creator and author of the Playbook Ultimate O/U ANNUAL and the weekly NFL “Totals TIPSHEET”….. the definitive guides for NFL OVER / UNDER wagering. The Playbook TOTALS TIPSHEET is the only publication of its kind in the country that is devoted exclusively to NFL Over / Under wagering. Victor is also a contributing writer for all of the Marc Lawrence’s Playbook publications. Victor is also a regular on Marc Lawrence’s weekly radio show “Against the Spread”.
Handicapping Style:
I handicap from a technical style, with particular emphasis on playing SITUATIONAL Systems from our Playbook database. We all are in agreement that sports are much like life in that it tends to REPEAT itself. College and Pro teams in similar situations will repeat the SU and ATS results that occurred in the past. That’s what makes our Playbook databases in football and basketball so crucial and important. With over 20 years of game results at our fingertips, the data that’s available will usually reward the hard-working handicapper with more winners than losers. With an emphasis on about 60-65% Over / Unders… and 30-35% Side Plays.
Handicapping History:
My fascination with sports and betting begins at an early age. As a youngster, I played in simulated baseball leagues with my older brother Kurt in our family’s basement in Cleveland, Ohio. We used to play Strat-o-Matic baseball and APPA baseball simulation leagues. We were fascinated how players in a fantasy league would mirror the actual statistics that they compiled in real time. That’s where the interest in sports data and statistics first got my attention.
From there, I moved into the area of ‘actual’ sporting events in Junior High School. That is, if you can call table-top ‘paper football’ an actual sporting event! I created a league during our lunchtime period that consisted of 11 of my friends who like playing table-top football. You probably know what I’m talking about. I was the Commissioner of the ‘MJHFL’ for 3 years (Mayfield Junior High Football League). A league newsletter was created, with commentary and projected point spreads. So this was also my first real taste of combining sports, betting, and journalism all into one.
I ‘graduated’ into the area of parlay cards. A junior or senior would have a bunch of parlay cards and he would hand them out to interested underclassmen who might have a hankering for making a bet or two. Even though I realized that these parlay cards never paid off at ‘true’ or justifiable odds, I was nevertheless hooked on them. After a year, I then moved up into the area that really paid off… and that was taking over the reins as the ‘man’, or the guy that was booking all these bets instead of making them.
In the football season, our selections are always released the night BEFORE a game. Sometimes, we’ll even come out a day or two in advance. In that way, our customers can get their action in as soon as possible to take advantage of the ‘softer’ lines. Once you get to game day, the ‘steam’ that comes in can potentially wipe out the value of a play… particularly an Over / Under selection. So it’s always advantageous for our customers to shop for the best line possible…. At least the night before a game.
On average, a typical King Creole selection has a write-up and analysis of 500 to 700 words. The more information and data that you can provide to a client (I call it ATS and OU ‘ammo’), the clearer that you can state your case. We have no respect for handicappers who throw out a few sentences and call that an analysis. Customers need to know that they are paying their hard-earned money for a write up that has some ‘meat’ to it… and hard work behind it. So you always get a thoughtful and meaningful analysis with plenty of data when you purchase a King Creole play.
