College Basketball Odds
Villanova -5.5
Total: 128.5 points
Interesting game here. The Wildcats are the defending national champions, have a record of 32-3 and comfortably beat Mount St. Mary’s in the opener, though they struggled a bit in the first half of that game.
Wisconsin needed second half play and shots from the perimeter to beat Virginia Tech. Ultimately they pulled away in that game and won by 10 points, but the Badgers needed eight 3-pointers from Bronson Koenig and some key rebounding from Nigel Hayes in the second half. Ethan Happ did not have a good game for the Badgers with only 10 points and eight rebounds — he’s going to have to finish with a lot better numbers in this one if Wisconsin is going to have a chance.
Villanova had five guys in double figures, including 21 from Donte DiVincenzo, who played 37 minutes coming off the bench and providing a huge spark.
The Wildcats are going to want to run, keep the pace up and make Wisconsin work at both ends. They are favored by only a couple of buckets here because the Badgers are scrappy, but Villanova advances.
