Purdue is coming off a big win against rival Indiana recently, winning that game on the road to complete a three-game streak of victories over NCAA Tournament teams. The other two contests were wins over Northwestern and Maryland, all three of those schools along with Wisconsin are fighting for a Big Ten title.
Rutgers is not contending for anything. They’re 2-11 in conference play and have dropped five of the last six games overall. The Scarlet Knights are not a good team and really struggle offensively, they average just over 66 points which ranks 311th in the country. They can rebound the ball and they’re going to have to against a Purdue team that has arguably the best one-two punch in the country with Caleb Swanigan and Isaac Haas.
If we look at each of the last three home games for Purdue, we see why this spread is so high. Wins over Illinois by 23, Penn State by 25 and Northwestern by 21 have seen the Boilers bring dominant play against inferior teams and we should expect that again tonight.
Rutgers is just not good; Purdue is very good.
