The Providence Friars are hosting the Villanova Wildcats in college basketball action tonight. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on FOX Sports 1. The college basketball odds for the game have the Wildcats favored to pick up the win on the road.

Villanova has fallen from the top-ranked spot in the rankings, but the Wildcats are marching back up the polls once again. Jay Wright’s club comes into this contest fourth, but they should be on high alert as both of their losses have come on the road. The Cats are coming off a huge win over Virginia at home from Sunday afternoon, another huge notch in the overall resume for Villanova.

This road game at Providence could be another solid win for the Wildcats. The Friars are a team that has nine losses on the year, five of those came against teams ranked in the Top 50 of the RPI. Being able to hang with Villanova once again will be difficult, but they are going to have to avoid turning it over. The Friars gave it up 12 times in the first meeting between the teams and Villanova was able to take advantage. The Wildcats shot better than 51 percent from the field in that win and connected on all 11 free throws they shot.

Josh Hart led the Cats with 25 in the win over Providence. Three other players scored double figures as well as Villanova ran the floor and looked solid. The Wildcats come in ranked second nationally in adjusted offensive efficiency numbers, they’re also a Top 25 team in those defensive numbers as well.

Providence does not have good computer numbers and they lack the star power they’ve had in recent years. Yet outside of a bad loss to St. John’s they’ve been very strong in home games.
