A big-time matchup in college basketball takes place tonight as the second-ranked Baylor Bears are on the road at the third-ranked Kansas Jayhawks. The game is scheduled for a 9:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN2. The college basketball odds for the game have the Jayhawks favored to pick up the win by a couple of possessions.

This is an excellent matchup between a pair of top five teams where conference bragging rights are also on the line. Kansas, ranked third overall, might have the best overall resume this season with 11 wins over the Top 100 in the RPI. They have just two losses, the most recent coming on the road at West Virginia, a team that has proven itself to by disastrous on defense and one that can also put up a ton of points.

Kansas is led by Frank Mason III, arguably the best point guard in the country with strength, determination and a high basketball IQ. Mason is a 20-point a game guy that keeps Kansas together, he tossed in 21 points in the team’s win over Kentucky on Saturday night and always seems to bring the intensity for the Jayhawks.

Kansas also has a great mix of guards with Josh Jackson and Devonte’ Graham.

Baylor knows it won’t be easy winning tonight in Lawrence. Kansas is 10-0 overall at home and its universally known as a place where opposing teams have little chance to win. The Bears have the top-ranked RPI in the country in the country and also have a loss to West Virginia, just like Kansas. They’re 4-1 in road games this season and have picked up three straight victories on the road over Kansas State, TCU and Ole Miss. They also own 11 victories over the Top 100 in the RPI and have four guys averaging double digits per game.

Johnathan Motley is the best guy on the floor for Baylor, but it’s going to take a big team effort from everyone else on the floor to hang with Kansas consistently. Baylor has just one loss on the season but ranks inside the Top 25 in both offensive and defensive efficiency numbers. They don’t beat themselves but neither does Kansas.

This should be an excellent game and hopefully it turns out to be the best on the night.
