The Cincinnati Bearcats are hosting the Xavier Musketeers in college basketball action on Thursday night. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN2. The college basketball odds for the game have the Bearcats favored to pick up the win at home.
College Basketball Odds
Cincinnati -3.5
Total: 136.5 points
This should be an excellent matchup in the Big East, provided Xavier can get things figured out in a hurry. The Musketeers have dropped three of the last five games overall and two of those were on the road at Butler and Villanova, so suffering defeat against those two clubs away from home is expected.
But their overall road woes have been an issue. Xavier is 1-4 in that department this season and the lone win came over Georgetown. Picking up another one here over the Bearcats would certainly be a solid one for the Musketeers.
Cincinnati is 17-2 on the season and a perfect 11-0 at home. In year’s past the Bearcats would struggle offensively but this year they have been solid on that end fo the floor, putting up better than 77 points per game. On defense they are still one of the best teams in the country, allowing just 61.4 points per game, which is 10th best in all of college basketball.
Jacob Evans and his 14 points per game lead the Bearcats. He’s one of three guys averaging double digits for them and he’s coming off a 15-point game against Tulane on Saturday where he made six of seven shots and played only 16 minutes.
Xavier is led by three solid players in Trevon Bluiett (17.2 ppg), Edmond Sumner (15.3 ppg) and J.P. Macura (14.5 ppg). The Musketeers are a strong team, but their road woes will be too much for them in this instance.
Cincinnati, at home, gets the job done here.
