The Maryland Terrapins are hosting the Rutgers Scarlet Knights in college basketball action on Tuesday. Maryland is one of the better teams in the Big Ten to this point in the season. The Terps are ranked 22nd this week and have just two defeats on the year, falling to Pittsburgh and Nebraska — both games coming at home, ironically.
Melo Trimble leads the way for the Terps, he came back to school and has Maryland atop the Big Ten at 5-1. They are tied with Wisconsin in the conference standings and those two won’t play until the middle of February.
Rutgers is not a good basketball team. They are 1-6 in conference action and just ended a seven-game losing streak by beating Nebraska the other day.
The defense for Rutgers is about the only thing that has them competing in games, the Scarlet Knights are giving up just over 65 points per game, which ranks Top 40 in the country. The problem for them has been the ability to score points. Corey Sanders just poured in 25 against Nebraska in the team’s win and he is going to have to bring the same type of effort in this one if the Knights have a chance.
