Baylor has climbed to the top of the rankings, the gift the Bears received is a road tri to Morgantown to take on the feisty Mountaineers. West Virginia comes into the contest ranked 10th nationally, they haven’t lost at home yet and they play excellent defense.
The difference for the Mountaineers, this season, could be the emergence of the offense. Under Bob Huggins, this program has struggled to consistently have an excellent offensive attack but this season they’re averaging better than 90 points a game and they do it by sharing the basketball, ranking third in the country with 19 assists per game. Up front, Esa Ahmad and Brandon Watkins will be tough to stop.
Baylor is 15-0 and led by All-America candidate Johnathan Motley, who averages nearly a double-double per game. He’s a monster on the interior and could take this game over.
Playing on the road will be tough for the Bears and they are underdogs. It’s the second road game on the season for the Bears, who drilled Oklahoma 76-50 a handful of games ago. But with the Mountaineer press and their new-found ability to actually scores points puts them in a good position here.
