The Seattle Seahawks are hosting the Detroit Lions on Saturday night in an NFC Wild Card matchup. The game is scheduled for an 8:15 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on NBC. The NFL Odds for the game have the Seahawks favored by a comfortable margin in this one.

Seattle is once again on a quest to make it to the Super Bowl. They’re nearly impossible to beat at home this time of year and they are banged up just enough in key spots that the Lions could make it at least interesting.

The Seahawks offensive line is a bit of a patchwork job, the loss of Earl Thomas on the back end of the defense is also changing the way the Seahawks are playing on that side of the football.

Detroit’s last win in the post season came 25 years ago in 1991. The Lions are obviously not used to playing in the playoffs and each of their last two appearances ended in Dallas.

For the Lions to win, they will have to cause a lot of trouble up front. The Seahawks have not been running the ball well and the offensive line should have issues with the Lions pass rush.

Russell Wilson and the offense are viewed as one that can get the job done, especially at home, but they have struggled quite a bit this season. The Seahawks scored 12 points or less five times this season and have had to rely quite a bit on the defense.

Detroit has been in nearly every game this season, Matt Stafford has led them to eight comeback wins this year and this team often feels like they are in the game late. Stafford has a ton of weapons — five guys caught at least 50 passes, the fifth time in NFL history that has happened — and they have all of a sudden gotten a little bit of a run game going with Zach Zenner.

The Lions have had a lot of magic this season and they are constantly in games late, but the magic could run out here on Saturday. Even so, eight points is a lot given Detroit has consistently played in close contests.
