The Iowa Hawkeyes are taking on the Florida Gators today in the 2017 Outback Bowl. The game is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ABC. The college football odds for the game have the Gators favored to pick up the win.

Florida sports one of the best defenses in the country and in this game against Iowa, it should be a major advantage for the Gators. Both teams are 8-4 on the season and each has had a pretty strong season.

The Gators come in having lost three of the last five and each of the last two. They were drilled by Florida State and Alabama and its due in large part to the Gators really struggling to have an explosive offense.

It only seems fitting the Gators are going to play a team that plays an awful lot like they do in Iowa. The Hawkeyes love to run the football and don’t have a ton of playmakers on the field, instead relying on tough and physical play.

Iowa QB C.J. Beathard is one of five in Hawkeyes history to win 20 games in his career. His play is not amazing, having thrown for less than 1,900 yards on the season and the leading receiver for the Hawkeyes has just over 500 yards through the air.

LeShun Daniels and Akrum Wadley make for a solid tailback combination, but the Gators are a Top 40 defense against the run and overall are just too good on that side of the football.
