The Utah Utes are hosting the Washington Huskies in college football action on Saturday afternoon. Washington laying 10 points here at Utah really speaks to how far the Huskies have come this season. There’s no doubt they are one of the better teams in the country this year and have risen all the way up into the Top 5 while looking to pick up the team’s biggest win of the season to date.
Utah will easily be the toughest test for Washington. Stanford was ranked inside the Top 10 nationally when the Huskies played them a few weeks ago, but it’s been proven Stanford really isn’t that good when Christian McCaffrey is banged up or doesn’t get a lot of snaps.
Washington has been impressive on both sides of the football this year, the Huskies are one of four teams nationally that rank inside the Top 10 in both scoring offense and defense, joining Michigan, Ohio State and Alabama. That has helped them jump out to a 7-0 start and the Huskies will look to once again have a strong showing here, they’ve won those games by an average margin of almost 38 points per game.
Utah is a tough place to play and Joe Williams provides them with an excellent tailback that will get a load of carries. In two straight road games Williams has piled up better than 500 yards on the ground, 179 at Oregon State and 332 at UCLA. The other Williams, Troy, is not bad at quarterback but he can turn it over a bit too much.
Utah’s defense has been good enough to get them to 7-1, but it’s far from elite. Giving up 21.6 points per game ranks them 31st in the country, but they are allowing less than 18 points per game in home games.
