The?Texas Longhorns are hosting the Baylor Bears in college football action on Saturday afternoon. The game is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ABC. The college football odds for the game have the Bears favored by a slim margin in this one.
College Football Odds
Baylor -3.5
Total: 70.5 points
This one again feels like a game Charlie Strong has to win if he wants to be able to keep his job. Some believe Texas has already moved on from Strong and is looking for his replacement, but that obviously remains to be seen. Texas is 3-4 on the season and struggling to find a way to consistently run the football and play defense well enough to win games.
The Longhorns are coming off a 27-21 defeat to Kansas State and recently lost three straight games where they surrendered at least 45 points. Texas just hasn’t been able to get it figured out under Strong, who is now just 14-18 during his tenure as coach of the Horns. Baylor is undefeated and ranked eighth in the country, but does anybody really know how good they are? The Bears are 6-0 and have played nobody to date, the toughest opponent has been Oklahoma State.
They’re still led by Seth Russell, who has 16 touchdowns on the season through the air and five more on the ground. Texas needs to find a way to grit this one out and find a win. The oddsmakers have Baylor listed as a real small favorite, so we should assume the Longhorns are going to bring a solid effort.
Plus we don’t really know how good Baylor is, so it can be tough to back them in just the second road game of the season.
