The Michigan Wolverines are on the road in college football action on Saturday, taking on the Michigan State Spartans. Michigan owns the best defense in the country and this year they are looking for some revenge. The Wolverines were ahead and should have beaten Michigan State last year before a meltdown on a punt with time running out was returned for a touchdown by the Spartans.

Michigan State went on to play in the college football playoffs, fueling itself with the momentum in the win over Michigan. This year, though, the Spartans have fallen back to earth and done it hard. MSU is just 2-5 on the season and they are 0-4 in Big Ten play.

While they may believe in themselves in a game like this, not many outside of East Lansing think they have a shot. Rivalry games can be funny, but MSU has shown no reason all season to believe they will be capable of such an upset.

Michigan’s defense has given up double-digit points in just three games this season and the 10 points per game they are giving up is the best in the country. Last week they could have looked ahead of Illinois and struggled with the Fighting Illini with such a big game on deck, but the Wolverines handled their business and held a 561-172 yard advantage in the contest. Illinois’ lone touchdown came on a 43-yard pass on a busted play in the Michigan secondary.

The Wolverines want big revenge here and they are going to crush the Spartans. MSU could make this interesting through a half, but they just don’t have the team they’ve put out there in the pas few seasons. Michigan’s considerably better.
