College Football Thursday Virginia Tech Hokies at Pittsburgh Panthers Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

The Pittsburgh Panthers are hosting the Virginia Tech Hokies in college football action on Thursday night. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on?ESPN. The college football odds for the game have the Hokies favored to pick up the win.

College Football?Odds
Virginia Tech -3.5
Total: 59 points

Virginia Tech comes into this contest ranked 25th nationally, they picked up a big win last Thursday night at home over Miami. The Hokies will now play three of the last five games on the road and one previous road game might keep them from finishing with a major bowl bid. The loss at Syracuse a few weeks back saw the Hokies turn it over a couple of times and giving up 14 fourth-quarter points proved to be the difference.

Had the Hokies won that game they’d be 6-1 overall and probably ranked somewhere near the Top 10. Pittsburgh is 5-2 on the season, winning three straight games to this point. The only two losses came on the road at Oklahoma State and North?Carolina by a combined eight points, so they have been in every game this season and have some confidence heading into this one. The Panthers will no doubt hand the football off to James Conner here.

He’s been their workhorse this season with 124 carries and he has seven touchdowns, though he has struggled the last four games in failing to reach 100 yards on the ground. Pitt QB Nathan?Peterman has shouldered some of that needed production with 11 touchdown passes and completing 63 percent of his passes. Pitt’s defense is going to be important here because Virginia Tech will certainly be strong on that side of the ball.

The Panthers have surrendered 34 points a game in?ACC?play this season and even though they’ve won two of those games, that’s a lot of points. Virginia Tech rebounded well to beat Miami last week, but road games can be tough and Pittsburgh has some confidence going with three straight wins.
