College Football Odds
Virginia Tech -6
Total: 51 points
Virginia Tech used to thrive in this situations under head coach Frank Beamer. No one wanted to head to Blacksburg on a Thursday night with the Hokies running out of that tunnel. Miami gets to experience it Thursday night as both teams look to get back on track after each team lost this past weekend.
Miami has dropped two straight in losses to Florida State and North Carolina, both defeats came at home. The Hurricanes had started the season at 4-0 and were safely inside the Top 25 but now have fallen on some tough times. Miami had been scoring a ton of points through the opening four games but have been held below 20 points in each of the last two losses.
Virginia Tech might have been caught looking ahead to this one, losing at Syracuse is not ideal. That one really hurts for the Hokies, who were coming off a big win over North Carolina during the hurricane the week before.
Both teams are averaging better than 420 yards of offense per game, their total numbers are eerily similar: Miami averages 234 yards passing and 188.5 yards rushing; Virginia Tech averages 232 yards passing and 188.7 yards rushing.
The better defense wins here and Miami’s has played well all season.
