Thursday College Football BYU Cougars at Boise State Broncos Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

The Boise State Broncos are hosting the BYU Cougars in college football action on Thursday night. The game is scheduled for a 10:15 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. The college football odds for the game have the Broncos favored to pick up the victory at home.

College Football Odds
Boise State -7
Total: 57.5 points

Boise State has risen to the 14th-ranked team in the polls, but they are going to be penalized because of playing nobody. The conference strength really hurts them again this season and this game against BYU looks like the last real chance to showcase itself, especially to a national audience.

BYU is coming off a win at home over SEC foe Mississippi State, a team that isn’t the best in that conference but still a strong opponent. The Cougs are one of the better teams in the country nobody knows about despite a 4-3 record on the season. BYU has losses to Utah, UCLA and West Virginia by a combined seven points. Had they found a way to win each of those games this game would be a marquee showdown between solidly ranked opponents.

But alas, the Cougars have three losses and this game loses some luster. Even so, BYU is the best team left for Boise State. The Cougars have veteran guys leading the offense in Taysom Hill and Jamaal Williams, a pair of gritty players that will be fired up for this game. The Cougar defense is a strong one as well, outside of the win over Toledo where they surrendered 53 points the Cougs are giving up just 20.5 points per contest.

Boise State is strong on both sides of the football as they have raced to a 6-0 start. Brett Rypien has been outstanding with 12 touchdowns to just three interceptions, plus he’s competing better than 62 percent of his passes. Boise’s opponents haven’t exactly been good, but Rypien has done the job necessary to keeping his team from turning it over and possibly losing.

Jeremy McNichols is one of the better tailbacks people might not know about, he’s piled up 775 yards this season with 11 touchdowns. He’s going to be a load for BYU in this one and he’s also a great option coming out of the backfield.

The Cougars are gritty, they play well on defense and they have been in every single game this season.
