College Football Odds
Notre Dame -3
Total: 55.5 points
Notre Dame has been through a lot this season. They’ve piled up the losses under Brian Kelly and have no sustainable defense to keep opponents from high-fiving and dancing around the field after scoring points. The mighty Fighting Irish are 2-4 and have a tough schedule in front of them, starting with this game against Stanford.
The Cardinal are expected to be without Christian McCaffrey, their best player who is one of the more dangerous players in the country. He’s really struggled to get it going the last two games this season, running for only 84 total yards in losses to Washington and Washington State. McCaffrey remains questionable to play with an undisclosed injury, but it’s obviously serious enough to keep him from getting on the field. David Shaw’s team is beat up and the offensive line needs to play well in this game for the Cardinal to have a chance, no matter if McCaffrey plays or not.
The Stanford offense is tough to back here, but the defense is good enough to keep them in the game. Ryan Burns has not been good enough at the quarterback position for them to overcome the lack of McCaffrey the last two weeks, but despite that Stanford should be a bigger underdog here than just three points.
The gritty Cardinal need to get back to running the football and being productive on offense, playing a bad Notre Dame defense should help with that.
