The San Diego Padres are hosting the Chicago Cubs tonight in Major League Baseball action. The game is scheduled for a 10:10 p.m. start time and the MLB Odds for the game have the Cubs favored to pick up the victory on the road.

Chicago was picked by many to be the best team on baseball prior to the season. While on paper they certainly looked to fit that bill, they have now proven it to this point in the season, sitting a commanding 33 games over the .500 mark and running away with the National League Central by 12 games over the St. Louis Cardinals. 

The Cubs have out-scored opponents by 208 runs so far this season, the best mark in the league by a mile. They've been exceptional at home and solid on the road as well, tonight they will look to improve upon an already seven-game over .500 mark.

Jon Lester (13-4, 2.86 ERA) gets the ball for the Cubs. Most of his better starts this season have been at home (2.01 ERA compared to 3.88 on the road), but he still has a 6-2 record away from home over 12 starts. Current Padres are hitting .209 against him in 91 plate appearances.

The Padres will throw Edwin Jackson (3-3, 5.36 ERA), a true journeyman in baseball. He's been knocked around quite a bit this season and covering 77 plate appearances, Jackson has allowed the Cubs to hit .299 against him.

San Diego is not having a good season. The value could be on them tonight with Lester having more favorable numbers when he pitches in Wrigley Field, but the Cubs are just too good.
