The Detroit Tigers are hosting the Kansas City Royals tonight in Major League Baseball action. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Currently the MLB Odds for the game have the Tigers favored to pick up the win at home.

Kansas City is the reigning World Series title holder, but it looks like they are going to miss the post season completely this year. The Royals are 11 games back in the American League Central and 7.5 back in the Wild Card hunt. Detroit, who has been really good and also poor this season, is in a much better spot to potentially clinch a post season spot.

The Tigers are a game and a half back in the Wild Card but sits five back in the AL Central to Cleveland. Detroit has a favorable schedule the next few weeks with several games at home inside Comerica Park, where they are 12 games over .500 this year. 

Tonight Daniel Norris (1-0, 4.00 ERA) makes his fifth start of the season tonight, he hasn't won since June 29 against Miami as his season has been marred with injury and time at Triple-A. When he's right Norris is one of the better young starters in the game and he needs to spin a strong game tonight for the Tigers.

Ian Kennedy (6-9, 3.91 ERA) starts tonight for the Royals. He's 3-6 with a 4.18 ERA in road starts this season, but he has thrown well against the Tigers tonight despite not beating them. Kennedy has two starts against Detroit, throwing 11 2/3 innings while giving up just three earned runs, the Royals dropped both games.

Detroit is in position to win some games at home, tonight they have to get a good start from Norris.
