The Pittsburgh Steelers are hosting the Detroit Lions tonight in NFL Preseason action. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on the NFL Network. Currently the Odds for the game have the Steelers favored by a field goal at home.

In the preseason opener for both teams, the Lions begin life without Calvin Johnson, who retired during the off-season. During his tenure Megatron was arguably the best receiver in the league for more than one season, now the Lions move on. It might make Matthew Stafford better to have different options and not key in on Johnson in what seemed like every other pass play.

The Lions have three strong targets in Golden Tate, Marvin Jones and Anquan Boldin. They love to throw the football and now have three strong possession guys that should help them consistently move the ball. How much the rest of them play tonight remains questionable.

The Steelers once again embark on a season with Ben Roethlisberger. He also has targets in Antonio Brown, Markus Wheaton and Le'Veon Bell out of the backfield. The Steelers are going to put up points all season and tonight could see a little glimpse into that.

The 35-point total seems low for these two teams, even if the backups do play nearly the entire game.
