The Detroit Tigers are hosting the Minnesota Twins in Major League Baseball action tonight. The game is scheduled for a 7:10 p.m. start time and the MLB Odds for the game have the Tigers favored to pick up the victory at home.

Detroit took two out of three from Kansas City during the weekend, giving them a bit of a boost coming into this series with the Twins. Detroit still believes it has a shot at making the post season this year, but eventually they are going to need the Cleveland Indians to stop winning.

Detroit has a chance at the Wild Card spot as well, they sit three games outside there, though both Boston and Toronto have the edge at this point in the season. Presumably all three teams will look to better themselves before the trade deadline and Detroit has to have a successful series against the bottom-feeding Twins to keep up the pace.

Minnesota is 33-58 on the season and have been out-scored by 78 runs this season. They have won six of 10 games, but are one of the worst teams in the league on the road this season in winning just 13 of 42 games.

Matt Boyd (0-2, 5.77 ERA) starts tonight for the Tigers. The youngster has made a handful of spot starts for Detroit this season and is coming off arguably his best outing, a no decision at Toronto where he scattered four hits in five innings.

Minnesota will send Ricky Nolasco (4-7, 5.22) to the mound. He picked up a win his last outing over Texas that ended a three-game skid. In road games this season Nolasco has an ERA almost a full run lower compared to pitching at home and he does have one start at Comerica Park this season, throwing five innings and allowing five hits, and two earned runs in a loss.
