The Chicago Cubs are hosting the Atlanta Braves tonight in Major League Baseball action. The game is scheduled for an 8:05 p.m. (EST) start time and the MLB Odds for the game have the Cubs listed as an overwhelming favorite to pick up the victory.

The Cubs are massive favorites here, as they should be. The Braves are arguably the worst team in baseball and the perfect squad to come into Chicago as the Cubs look to get back on track. 

Chicago enters the game with the second-best record in the National League (52-32) behind San Francisco (54-33). The Cubs have been excellent in home games this season, winning 26 of the 39 contests at Wrigley Field.

This game is a makeup from an earlier season contest, it’s now the 21st consecutive day they will take the field, which certainly has to have them a bit fatigued. 

Chicago sends Jason Hammel (7-5, 3.45 ERA) to the mound tonight. He’s made 16 starts on the season, six of which have come at home where he is 3-1 with a 2.78 ERA. Hammel has surrendered just three home runs there this season.

The Braves will send Lucas Harrell to the mound. He’s 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA on the season, covering six innings of work. The journeyman youngster has faced a handful of Cubs in his time, covering 22 at bats, which is obviously a small sample size.

The Braves simply aren’t good. Hammel at home against them looks like a really strong bet.
