The Golden State Warriors are hosting the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight in Game 5 of the NBA Finals. The game is scheduled for a 9:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ABC. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Warriors favored to finish out the series at home here.
NBA Finals Odds
Golden State -5.5
Total: 205 points
Golden State will be without Draymond Green tonight, who is serving a one-game suspension. The Warriors can probably still win without him, but it does help the Cavaliers with a chance to possibly pick up a victory and stay alive.
If Cleveland can somehow win tonight, it would force a Game 6 back in Ohio. LeBron James is looking to force that sixth game, giving his team a chance to win a title. James is often critiqued about being the best in the league for multiple reasons, but is this team the best he has taken to the Finals in Cleveland? Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving seem to be problematic on the defensive end of the floor and James can't do it all himself, especially with Golden State's ability to win games from the 3-point line.
In Game 4, the Warriors connected for an NBA Finals record 17-made triples. Steph Curry made seven of those, Klay Thompson added four more as the Splash Brothers finally both had big games, combining for 63 points. Cleveland simply won't win any game when those two go for that many points.
It's cliche time for Cleveland and surely James and the Cavs will bring the "do or die" attitude to the floor. Without Green on the court they have a chance, but they will have to avoid turnovers and still shoot a high percentage from the floor.
Cleveland can play its best game of the year, but the possibility still remains it just won't be good enough.
