The Arizona Diamondbacks are hosting the St. Louis Cardinals tonight in Major League Baseball action. The game is scheduled for a 9:40 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on FOX Sports 1. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Cardinals favored to pick up the victory on the road.

Both Arizona and St. Louis come into tonight’s game above the .500 mark for the season. The strange thing for the Diamondbacks is they have struggled in home games to date, winning just four times in 11 chances.

The Diamondbacks will give the baseball to Shelby Miller, a guy they traded for who was expected to be solid at the top of the rotation. He’s 0-1 with an 8.59 ERA on the season, which has been less than ideal for Arizona. Small sample size, but Miller does have good numbers against current Cardinals, allowing them to hit just .152 over 46 at bats. In two starts against the Cardinals the past few seasons he’s tossed 15 1/3 innings, going 1-1 with a 0.59 ERA while allowing just five hits.

The Cardinals will start Carlos Martinez. He is 3-0 on the season with a 2.70 ERA, he’s thrown at least six full innings in all three starts this year while getting some strong run support. Current Diamondbacks are hitting .192 against him over 52 at bats, nobody has an extra base hit against him.

St. Louis comes in 2-2 the last four games overall, but Arizona did pick up a 12-7 win last night. The Diamondbacks are 2-2 the last four as well, but they need to get better at home. Miller hasn’t proven he can win yet, Martinez has been strong three times out.
