The St. Louis Blues are playing host to the Chicago Blackhawks tonight in Game 2 of their NHL Playoff series. The game is scheduled for an 8:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on the NBC Sports Network. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Blues favored to pick up the victory at home.
NHL Playoff series really don’t start until one of the teams drops a game on its own ice. The Blue were able to hold serve in the opening game of this series, claiming a 1-0 win in overtime over Chicago the other day in a highly-contested game. The victory by the Blues sets them up to take a 2-0 lead in the series with a victory in this game tonight, especially if goal tender Brian Elliott continues to play well.
Elliott gave St. Louis its first shutout win in the post season in four years, making 35 saves in net. The win was the third straight for the Blues over Chicago and Elliot will look to keep his strong play going tonight.
This is obviously a tough first-round matchup for both teams, but Chicago is looking to get a boost from the return of defenseman Duncan Keith, who just finished up his suspension. Chicago goalie Corey Crawford played well enough to win in the opening game of the series, but a crazy goal in overtime proved to be the difference.
Crawford is returning from a head injury, Game 1 was just his second back in between the pipes since coming back and he looked very strong.
Elliot came up strong as well for St. Louis while Chicago had the man advantage. Chicago went 0-for-5 on the power play and a replicate performance could end in a different final score compared to Game 1.
