The Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers will face off again tonight in Major League Baseball action. The game is scheduled for a 10:10 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on MLB.tv. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Dodgers favored by a comfortable margin in this one at home.
Arizona spoiled the festivities yesterday in the Dodgers’ home opener, getting four runs late in the contest to win. Tonight LA will look to get back on track, though the win for Arizona yesterday came in the team’s first road game so they obviously haven’t lost yet away from home.
The Dbacks send Rubby De La Rosa to the mound, he owns a 12.46 ERA as he was beaten up in his first start of the season against the Cubs, giving up six earned runs in 3 1/3 innings of work. He also threw an inning out of the bullpen in a game a few days later, getting all three batters he faced out.
De La Rosa has allowed current Dodgers to hit .402 against him in 82 at bats. Seven different Dodgers have hit a home run against him and Howie Kendrick owns the best overall numbers with 10 hits in 18 plate appearances.
Los Angeles counters with Alex Wood, who was also roughed up in his first start of the season. Wood gave up five runs in a little over five innings of work as he was the first Dodger pitcher to give up a run this season. LA begin the season with 31 straight scoreless innings of action.
Wood doesn’t have a ton of action against the Diamondbacks in his career, but current Arizona players have hit .308 against him in 65 at bats. Paul Goldscmidt, who clubbed the go-ahead home run yesterday, has two bombs in nine at bats against Wood. Wellington Castillo has also homered.
The Diamondbacks could score some runs tonight off Wood, they hit lefties well in a short amount of time this season and they come in hot off yesterday’s win, where they collected nine hits.
Problem for Arizona is De La Rosa can give up a ton of runs as well.
